Running Video Log 1 - date 5-29-2008
Welcome back!
Hey, it’s Tellman here. This is my runner’s video log for May 29th, 2008. Just returned back from a run…planned to go out for 90 minutes.
Went out for one hour, twenty four minutes & forty-two seconds…meaning I went out for 45 minutes & I turned around & came back 5 minutes, 18 seconds faster than I went out.
Cool. This is day after I have met with Hank Lang. Hank taught me some biomechanical techniques to adjust my form.
…very strange experience, because today when I was running I couldn’t stop paying attention to the changes he suggested I make.
I was trying to stand more vertically…not bend at my hips…tying to lean in…trying to land on my forefoot to midfoot & not on my heel.
Noticed several things about that….
More importantly, this is my official announcement…that I’ve decided to embark on a running trip across country from coast-to-coast.
I’ve just returned from Richard Branson’s private island where I spent a week with 20 other self-made entrepreneurial millionaires.
We got to spend a lot of time brainstorming with Sir Richard Branson, the CEO of Virgin Unite…which it looks like my running cause will benefit.
The goal is to raise $100 MILLION crossing the country from coast-to-coast for Virgin Unite projects and through Virgin Unite.
I plan to begin this trip in roughly 90 days…almost the 1st of June now…so that makes it pretty darn close September 1…that’s the estimated time of departure…could be sooner, could be later.
Not yet decided if it will be from the east coast or the west coast.
I am now in training….I’ve been running quite a lot more than normal for the past few weeks…time to kick it into high gear and take it into high gear and that things really seriously.
One thing Hank said to me that I’ve found interesting that it’s not about the training..the training is the catalyst is what happens to your body in between that makes you fast & stronger. It’s not about the training.
The training is the fuse for change. So that’s my lesson. I also found it very difficult to go slow…very difficult….while I was running with Hank’s suggestions & posture…which was very interesting.
Okay, that’s it.
Tellman out.
Official One Hundred Million Dollar training run number one!
Run Time 1:24:42 Exploring biomechanical techniques taught by trainer Hank Lange. Focusing on standing Vertically, not bending in the hips, leaning on forefoot to mid foot instead of heal. Refining my running technique seems to be making it more difficult to run slowly and also causing tenderness in my lower calves and big toes. Time to Kick it in to High Gear!
